As online companies have more and more power, it becomes critical that journalists investigate and challenge their practices. For this, personal data protection laws are completely underused. In this workshop, we will briefly explain how those laws work, and give concrete examples of their use investigating Cambridge Analytica, Uber, Tinder, Facebook, the advertising technology business, etc. We will then help those present request their data from the companies that they wish. If time permits, we will also present our tool PersonalData.IO"
