The project “Euros for doctors” details what payments individual doctors have received by pharmaceutical companies. The readers can look for their doctor to see what funding he have received. Payments from pharmaceutical companies have been shown to influence which medicines the doctors prescribe, with possible detrimental effects for the patient. The project, coordinated by Correctiv.org, has collected a database of 35.000 names of doctors and organizations with the corresponding payments. What started off as a national project, now includes Switzerland and Austria. The plan is now to expand it to more countries, as data is available for more EU-member states. The team presents its experience with getting, cleaning, and publishing data, as well as coverage, impact, and legal implications. After the workshop there will be a hands-on workshop, where participants are led through the workflow. https://correctiv.org/en/investigations/euros-doctors
