EU finances and EU regulated spending can appear complex. But once you understand the model, it's your starting point for covering European politics and EU as well as large parts of national spending in a meaningful way. In this introduction course Sigrid Melchior, Brussels correspondent for Swedish media and author to two handbooks on covering the EU, will give you an introduction in where the EU budget gets its money from. But also - and prominently - an understanding of the structures of EU's own spending, EU-spending via member states and EU-regulated spending of national funds - for example via public tender legislation. NOTE: Sigrid will also provide a workshop on the working of the EU, it is recommended to attend both.
