Berlin
Data journalist and Head of Data-driven Journalism at Deutsche Welle (DW), Germany's international media company. Research Fellow & PhD candidate TU Dortmund University. DDJ trainer and coding enthusiast (team Python).

With more than ten years of experience and stages in local-, science- and online-journalism, Gianna is particularly fond of the multimedia storytelling opportunities the web offers. She holds a Bachelor degree in Life Sciences and a Masters Degree in Molecular Biomedicine. She also completed the Lede Program at Columbia Journalism School in New York City.

Beyond data viz, data journalism and code, I'm happy to chat about establishing ddj workflows, tips on to set up a data team at your media company, career pathways into data journalism (or how to figure out if it's your thing), thoughts & feelings on starting a PhD, wonders of a natural scientist entering social science. Leaving the strictly professional sphere, I'm also happy to chat about hiking, sustainable gardening, food & coffee.
